Vickie Santner
Vickie Santner is the CEO of Asheville’s Sharpest Edge. She grew up in rural Ohio and served in the Navy for eight years. While working as an equipment specialist for a military contractor, she traveled throughout the U.S. on Military Sealift Command (MSC) vessels, Coast Guard, Canadian and various other ships recording all the onboard equipment, repair parts and storage locations with the objective of building each vessel a technical library. The libraries she built allowed for the creation of a Coordinated Onboard Ships Allowance Listing (COSAL) to assist with equipment repairs. She assisted in the refit of the USS Wisconsin, and spent two years building its COSAL and technical library.
Upon moving to Charleston, South Carolina, Vickie became an Event Consultant for AAA Rentals, All Occasions party division. She visited Asheville, North Carolina, in 1991 for a short vacation and fell in love with the region’s natural beauty. Upon moving to Asheville permanently in 1992, Vickie attended Haywood Community College and studied Electronics and Machinery Engineering.
With a passion for construction, Vickie founded Masterpiece Flooring and operated the company for 15+ years. While working in the construction industry, she noted that adequate sharpening services did not seem to be available in and around Asheville. Like so many in the construction trades, she searched for an affordable sharpening service provider for the maintenance of her tools. When she couldn’t find one, she decided to trade in her construction tools and start a new tool sharpening company, Asheville’s Sharpest Edge.
Since founding Asheville’s Sharpest Edge in 2007, the business has doubled in square footage. It serves Asheville and the surrounding areas in sharpening “Just about anything.” Additionally, it repairs small appliances and sells hundreds of products.
